This machine holds dozens of steel blades that move back and forth while an abrasive slurry—typically silicon carbide or steel shot—does the actual cutting. It’s slow but efficient for producing 15 para 30 uniform slabs from a single block.

For greater precision and less material lossdiamond wire saws have become the industry favorite. A steel cable embedded with diamond beads slices through marble with minimal kerf width, reducing waste and producing smoother surfaces. This method also generates less vibration, which helps prevent hidden micro-cracks—critical for thin tiles or large-format panels.

When projects call for custom shapes—undermount sink cutouts, curved countertop edges, or decorative inlays—CNC waterjets take center stage. These machines mix high-pressure water with garnet abrasive to cut intricate profiles without generating heat, so the marble’s color and integrity stay intact.

Cutting quality isn’t just about the machine. Feed speed, blade tension, and coolant flow all affect the final edge finish. So does the marble’s veining direction; cutting against the grain can cause chipping or breakage. That’s why experienced fabricators adjust every parameter for each specific stone type.
